Thunder Basin Youth Pheasant Hunt
The 1st Annual Thunder Basin PF Youth Hunt went off with a bang.
There were more clay pigeons shot than you could shake a stick at. The
mentors
worked very well with youths from around the area teaching them all how
to shoot and shooting safety. Each youth had ample practice
time on the trap range before heading out to their mentored pheasant
hunt.
Thunder Basin PF purchased 60 pheasants and Lakenvelder Farm donated 60
pheasants plus 5 "Super Roosters" offering
an abundance of opportunities for each participant to shoot a bird. The
5 "Super Roosters" were banded and each youth that shot a
banded rooster received a free personal hunt donated by 4-J Fowl Farm
to encourage the community youths to continue their new found
hunting skills.
Kudos' needs to go out to the massive troop of volunteers that showed
up to help put the hunt on without a single hitch. Adults from
around the area including local law enforcement and Wyoming Game and
Fish made a huge presence that is sure to provide a life long
impact on the 27 youths that attended the event. Without the time and
efforts of all the mentors and behind the scenes personnel, hunts
like this would be impossible.
In addition to pheasant hunting the event offered B-B Gun shooting,
Preditor - Prey Games, and a lunch provided for youths and parents.
A great showing of community support was evident by all the donated
foods and goods by local merchants. Donations are what makes
events like the youth hunt possible and a great thank you needs to be
said to the many sponsors of this event. Please see our sponsor page
and pay those merchants a visit, let them know how much you appreciate
their support.
